What you will be doing: · Planning o Provide leadership and vision through the development of long range and annual strategic plans o Oversee preparation of the annual business plan for the company o Research and present proposals as needed to set standards and goals for both the short term and long term opportunities o Evaluate opportunities for other crop types, new geographies, technologies, and potential business opportunities through new crop type endeavors. o Work closely with R&PD team to evaluate and source new breeders and opportunities for new varieties through research and networking. o Managing scheduled company meetings to lay out objectives and follow up on duties for each individual o Managing a calendar of events with deadlines to keep organization of the company due to seasonal nature of activities. · Sales/Associate Relations o Work sales in designated territory to ensure proper growth and expansion of business. o Assist associates to source foundation, registered, and certified seed o Oversee sales and relations that are established by sales staff to ensure accuracy o Offer support for sales staff in direction to ensure we have the correct focus and approach to each territory and crop type. o Set sales goals for sales staff with focus on both associates and end result relations · HR Management o Recruit, train, coach, counsel, discipline, and provide staff with support needed to reach their maximum potential in their positions. o Communicate values, strategies, objectives, and direction to staff o Assign accountably; appraise job results and provide educational opportunities o Board of Directors; Coordinate meetings, approve agendas, and attend scheduled meetings o Lead by example in setting a precedent for the company image and positive work environment by setting high standards for professionalism and communication and make sure this remains coherent throughout staff · Financial Management o Oversee preparation of annual budget o Provide vision and leadership in long range fiscal planning to ensure continues profitability of the company. o Work with staff and associates to ensure AR remains current. o Analyze risk/reward when looking at expenditures to ensure business funds are being spent appropriately. · Administration o Maintain oversight and insure accuracy of records including A/R, A/P, Inventory, etc. o Assist in development of forms and tools to increase company efficiency and risk management. o Manage Royalty reporting and collections and work with Office Manager to ensure payments are remitted on time. o Set goals and objectives for each staff and assist each in attaining that goal. · Marketing and PR o Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community, organizations, and employees o Maintain quality service by establishing organization standards; enforcing ethical business practices. o Oversee content, production, and distribution of all marketing and publicity materials with Office Manager o Manage press development o Collaborate with sales staff to plan a trade show schedule; attend scheduled trade shows and make sure sales staff attends scheduled shows o Network with companies, individuals, and customers as much as possible to ensure exposure of business and create working relationships. |
