Job Summary

AgBest is currently seeking a Custom Applicator for our Hartford City, IN facility. The Custom Applicator will support the agronomy program by accurately mixing, hauling, spreading, and applying liquid and dry fertilizer and crop protection products based on knowledge, maps, recommendations, and label directions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately mix and apply agricultural chemicals based on recommendations and label directions.
  • Record and maintain application data, log books, and inspection records on time.
  • Operate agriculture and commercial application equipment.
  • Repair, rebuild, and maintain equipment as needed.
  • Load, unload, and deliver bulk and packaged products.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in additional duties including inventory control, driving tender trucks, and warehouse operation assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and Class A CDL required. Hazmat endorsement and ob-year minimum experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand agricultural chemical label specifications and operational procedures/standards for custom application.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Ability to utilize and operate variable rate technology and GPS guidance systems.
  • A self-motivated, positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours and weekends as business conditions warrant (primarily Spring and Fall).
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, moderate noise, uneven surfaces, varying heights, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and varying outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel independently to multiple locations daily.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, crouch, crawl, kneel, bend, climb, balance, or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
